Who is Neil Degrasse Tyson?

Neil deGrasse Tyson (born October 5, 1958) is an astrophysicist, author, and science communicator from the United States. He worked as a postdoctoral research associate at Princeton University from 1991 to 1994.

In 1994, he became a staff scientist at the Hayden Planetarium and a visiting research scientist and speaker at Princeton. In 1996, he was appointed director of the planetarium, where he managed a $210 million rebuilding project that was finished in 2000.

He has been the director of the Hayden Planetarium in New York City’s Rose Center for Earth and Space since 1996.

His mother, Sunchita Maria Tyson, was a gerontologist, and his father, Cyril deGrasse Tyson, was a sociologist. His siblings are Stephen Joseph Tyson and Lynn Antipas Tyson. Regarding education, he enrolled in Bronx public schools. The Bronx High School of Science confers on him a certificate. Moreover, graduates of Harvard College’s Bachelor of Arts in Physics program. He gave a talk at the Beyond Belief: Science, Religion, Reason, and Survival conference in November 2006. In May 2009, Tyson and a comedian co-hosted a show called StarTalk.
