Amandla Stenberg (born October 23, 1998) is an actress from the United States. She was named one of Time’s Most Influential Teens in 2015 and 2016, and she has won multiple awards, including a Teen Choice Award, an NAACP Image Award, and nominations for four Black Reel Awards and a Critics’ Choice Award.
Stenberg made her acting debut in Colombiana (2011) before breaking out as Rue in The Hunger Games (2012), for which she earned the Teen Choice Award for Best Chemistry.

Amandla Stenberg was born in Los Angeles, California, to African American spiritual counsellor and writer Karen Brailsford and Danish-born Tom Stenberg.
Her maternal grandmother was of Greenlandic Inuit descent. On her father’s side, Stenberg has two older half-sisters.
Her given name means “power” or “strength” in the IsiXhosa and Zulu languages of South Africa. Stenberg began modelling for Disney catalogues at the age of four. She has been in commercials for companies including Boeing.
