Adidja Azim Palmer best known as vybz kartel was born on January 7, 1976 in Kingston, Jamaica. His home town where he was raised is Portmore, Jamaica. He rose to limelight in 2003 after a clash with Ninjaman at an annual dancehall festival ‘Sting’ which took place in Portmore.
The clash escalated to violence and later resulted in Kartel and Ninjaman making a public apology to the organizers of the event. It wasn’t too long before vybz kartel was dragged again for using a special “bleaching cream”.
In 2011, vybz kartel was banned by the National Communications Network of Guyana from airing his song because “his music added no value to their music industry”. “The lyrics of his songs were nothing good to write home about”.
According to other sources, around September 2011, he was arrested for being in possession of hard drugs. After being sentenced to prison in 2014; for charges of alleged murder of Jamaican businessman Barrington Burton, he would have to serve 35 years in prison before he is set free.
