Wantaregh Paul Unongo was a former Nigerian politician, he was best known in the Nigeria’s Second Republic as minister of Steel Development and then the Minister of Mines and Power.
Paul Unongo was born on September 26, 1935, in Turan, Kwande Local Government Area of Benue state. Wantaregh Unongo died on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at the age of 87. The former Minister, “Unongo was the chairman of the Governing Council of Nigerian Educational Research Development Council until his death”.

In 1983, under the platform of (NPP) New-defunt Nigerian Peoples Party, he aspired to be the governor of Benue state, however he lost to an opposition part. After loosing the election, he was made a Federal Minister.

Paul Unongo was a native of Jato Aka in the Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State. His obituary was announced by a close relative on Tuesday, November 29 2022. He died at the age of 87.
