Nick Gilbert was an American of white race who was born in 1997 in Southfield, Michigan. He grew up in a Jewish family. He was the son of billionaire businessman and philanthropist Dan Gilbert and TV personality and entrepreneur Jennifer Gilbert.
Nick was the youngest of four siblings, with one sister and three brothers. His four siblings include Gracie Gilbert, one sister, and three brothers, AJ Gilbert, Nash Gilbert, and Grant Gilbert. At the age of 15 months, he was diagnosed with neurofibromatosis, a condition that causes tumors to form on nerves throughout the body.
Despite having many major brain surgeries, Nick was always an optimistic and resilient person. His grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, physicians, nurses, and carers all loved and adored him.
Nick was a determined student who attended Michigan State University to further his education. He majored in business and graduated from the same university in 2020. Despite his health issues, Nick remained committed to his studies and was able to complete his education.

Nick was born with Neurofibromatosis (NF), a genetic nerve system disorder. As a result of the condition, tumors can form anywhere in the body.
After being diagnosed at fifteen months, he had chemotherapy and many brain surgeries.
When the billionaire’s son was five, he too had his first round of chemotherapy. He had emergency surgery to remove a brain tumor when he was ten years old. He died on May 6, 2023.
