Erik Prince was born on June 6, 1969, in Holland, Michigan. He is the youngest of four children. He graduated from Holland Christian High School in 1987.
Prince attended the United States Naval Academy for three semesters before leaving to attend Hillsdale College, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in economics in 1992.
After college, Prince joined the United States Navy SEALs, where he served for four years. He deployed with SEAL Team 8 to Haiti, the Middle East, and the Balkans.
In 1995, Prince founded Blackwater, a private military company that provided security services to governments and businesses. Blackwater played a major role in the Iraq War and other conflicts.
Prince sold Blackwater in 2010 and has since been involved in a number of other business ventures. He is the head of Frontier Resource Group, a private equity firm that invests in Africa. He is also the chairman of Frontier Services Group, a logistics and transport company.
