Queen Latifah whose original name is Dana Elaine Owens was born on March 18th, 1970 in Newark, New Jersey, United States of America to Rita Lamae and Lancelot Amos Owens. Rita Lamae was a teacher at Irvington High School, and Lancelot Amos Owens was a police officer.

Dana had an older brother named Lancelot Jr., however, he passed away in 1992 in a motorcycle accident, which Dana had previously purchased for him.
