Michael David Rosenberg (born May 17, 1984) is an English singer-songwriter and musician better known by his stage name Passenger. Rosenberg, who was previously the main vocalist and songwriter for Passenger, chose to use the band’s moniker for his solo work after the band disbanded in 2009.

He debuted the smash song “Let Her Go” in 2012, which topped the charts in 16 countries and has received over 3.3 billion views on YouTube; it is the most-viewed Australian YouTube video of all time.
The song was nominated for a Brit Award for British Single of the Year in 2014, and he got the Ivor Novello Award for Most Performed Work from the British Academy.

Rosenberg was born in Brighton on May 17, 1984, to Quaker parents, an English mother named Jane and an American Jewish father named Gerard Rosenberg, who was born in Vineland, New Jersey.
He started making songs at the age of 14 or 15 after learning classical guitar. He dropped out of school at the age of 16 to pursue a music career, and he spent the next few years busking across England and Australia.

Career
Rosenberg’s first performance was when he was 16 years old. In 2001, Rosenberg’s father, a film production professional, connected him to Jamie Catto, a former member of the band Faithless; this led to Rosenberg performing two songs at the Free Burma Campaign benefit performance at the Royal Court in London. That night, he met Andrew Phillips, his future writing partner, and made contact with the IE Music label.
Phillips and Rosenberg returned to Brighton, combined their musical inspirations (from Simon & Garfunkel to DJ Shadow), and began writing songs at Phillips’ in-house studio in Hove. Through ties in the Brighton music scene, they founded the Mike Rosenberg Band in 2003, enlisting Marcus O’Dair (bass), Alon Cohen (drums), and Richard Brinklow (keyboards).
In 2003, Rosenberg and Andrew Phillips formed the band Passenger in Brighton and Hove. The band’s name was stylized as /Passenger. (Beginning with a slash and ending with a dot) Wicked Man’s Rest, the band’s sole album, was released on Chalkmark in 2007. With the exception of “Four Horses,” which was written by Phillips, Rosenberg composed the remainder of the album’s tracks. The band disbanded in 2009.
After Passenger disbanded, Rosenberg used the band’s name as his personal stage name and began busking for a solo music career.
Rosenberg released a lot of music and went on a number of tours.
